Public Health Macro Trends (II) - January 26, 2006The United States Surgeon General Vice Admiral Richard H. Carmona, MD, MPH, FACS, presented his thoughts on macro public health trends facing our nation. Dr. Carmona has worked in various positions in the medical field including paramedic, registered nurse and physician. He completed a surgical residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and a National Institutes of Health-sponsored fellowship in trauma, burns and critical care. Dr. Carmona is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is also certified in correctional health care and in quality assurance. California Public Health Officer Mark Horton, MD, MPH, and Sacramento Public Health Officer and president of the California Conference of Local Health Officers Glennah Trochet, MD appeared as California respondents to the Surgeon Generalfs comments. |
